Zeinab Badawi, who began her career as one of a very small number of black newsreaders on mainstream UK television, has become one of the most recognisable faces on global TV.

Despite the enormous respect and admiration she has garnered from the industry as well as viewers from around the world (mainly through BBC World Service TV shows), she has never lost sight of her roots in Africa or her determination to present a more positive image of the continent.
