A Financial Management article on enterprise governance has been chosen by the member bodies of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) as the best published in 2009 for professional accountants in business. The article, by Wim Van der Stede, CIMA professor of accounting and financial management at the London School of Economics, appeared in FM in February 2009. It explained why firms should be more cautious in a boom, but more prepared to take risks in a downturn.
IFAC's prestigious "articles of merit" competition highlights outstanding writing on financial management topics that has appeared in the publications of the federation's 159 member bodies and associates--including CIMA. The winner and runners-up were selected by IFAC's professional accountants in business committee and visitors to its International Center for Professional Accountants in Business.
