The average CIMA member in the UK earns 55,600 [pounds sterling] a year, according to an online survey conducted by CIMA and Robert Half Finance & Accounting last summer. This figure does not include other benefits or bonuses and it varies according to region, ranging from an average salary of 66,500 [pounds sterling] in London to 42,100 [pounds sterling] in Northern Ireland.

Analysed by job title, average salaries were 106,500 [pounds sterling] for CEOs, 83,100 [pounds sterling] for CFOs, 78,600 [pounds sterling] for FDs, 63,600 [pounds sterling] for heads of finance and 53,500 [pounds sterling] for financial controllers. Commercial accountants, financial/business analysts and senior accountants tended to earn between 40,000 [pounds sterling] and 50,000 [pounds sterling].

When it came to benefits, 88 per cent of respondents had company pensions, 63 per cent had annual bonuses and 62 per cent were on a healthcare scheme. Other common perks included a company car, flexible working arrangements, share options...
