Forecasting can be subjective, with practices varying between, and often even within, organisations. So the application of a consistent structure is valuable and powerful. This course introduces delegates to the principles of business forecasting and provides them with a new methodology, called the "Forecast Scorecard". This measures forecast quality and identifies systematic problems in real time. This is crucial in today's complex, fast-changing business environment.

The course begins with an examination of the problems that the forecasting process presents. We then look at the principles of forecasting and how their application can overcome these problems. This part of the course is followed by an introduction to the score-card methodology.

After lunch, we turn to hands-on practical work. Delegates are given the opportunity to create their own Excel-based tools to assess forecast quality. These tools are straightforward: delegates do not need a mathematical background, for example.
