Over the Christmas period, St. James' Church in central London unveiled an eight-metre-high replica of the Israeli-built concrete separation wall that entirely surrounds a huge swathe of the West Bank, including the Palestinian city of Bethlehem, recognised as the birthplace of Jesus. It was an effort to bring to London some of the reality of what it is like to live in Bethlehem in 2013. The wall deliberately obscured the facade of the historic St. James' Church "because that is what has happened to Bethlehem's holy sites and historic places."
