A grand total of Ush40.43bn ($23.8m) that remained unspent from the last financial year, has been sent back to Uganda's Treasury by central and local governments, Uganda's Ministry of Finance has reported. Central government itself refunded Ush39bn ($23m) while various local governments returned Ushl.4bn ($826,000) to the country's consolidated fund. Each financial year, Uganda's Ministry of Finance releases money to each of the country's ministries, departments and districts who are required to account for the disbursement of their funding at year end and return unused funds to the central bank.
