UK female board members up - but shy of target.

The number of women on the boards of FTSE 100 firms has risen in the past year, but still stands at just 15 per cent of all board members.

The figures, which were in the annual "Female FTSE Index and Report" from the Cranfield School of Management, represented a three per cent increase in the number of female board members from 2011. Of the 190 appointments made to FTSE 100 boards in the past 12 months, 47 were women.

The report came as Lord Davies delivered an update on firms' progress towards meeting his recommendation in his 2011 report, "Women on Board", that 25 per cent of FTSE 250 directors should be women by 2015. For FTSE 100 companies this...
