Management accountants should defend their sector against fads and gurus, Professor Brian Rutherford of Canterbury Business School told a recent JDipMA chapter meeting. He urged older CIMA members to instil a "healthy scepticism" in young managers that will help them to withstand pressure to find "instant coffee solutions" for serious financial problems.
