Reading Samia Nkrumah's interview in your October issue reinforced my conviction that pedigree is not enough to launch an individual as much as personal clout and vision.

Even though not completely rooted in her native backyard because of the number of years she involuntarily spent abroad, Samia manifested a high degree of homegrown knowledge, a sense of empathy and a great deal of appreciation even of those who sent her father into exile and eventual death.

I met Samia at a "Symposium of the United States of Africa" held in Dakar, Senegal, in July this year, and I was impressed with both her modesty and courage. Now your interview has revealed the tigress and lamb in a persona that Ghanaians and Africans...
