Businesses around the world are finding it difficult to manage their talent base in the most effective manner, which is hindering important projects or initiatives, innovation, performance and growth objectives.

That's the message delivered by a new CGMA report--'Talent pipeline draining growth: Connecting human capital to the growth agenda'.

A survey carried out as part of the report revealed that while most companies understand the importance of human capital, they do not appear to have the right systems, processes and information in place to manage talent effectively. Only 41 per cent of firms are confident that their human capital strategy is truly embedded in their organisation's strategy.

A particularly worrying finding from the study was that the most senior business leaders are not clear on who should bear responsibility for these issues in their firms.

The report sets out a number of human capital recommendations from CIMA and the AICPA for staying competitive and growing in today's challenging and volatile business environment:
