South Africa has added seven countries to its visa-free list including Ghana, Sao Tome and Principe, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and New Zealand.
Out of the 193 members of the United Nations, the South African Department of Home Affairs has granted visa-free status to 75 countries.
According to the latest Henley Passport Index, South Africans can visit 99 countries without paperwork around the globe in return.
The country is a key tourist destination and easier borders will be a boost for the industry, according to the authorities.
