South Africa's upgraded taxi fleet has a new passenger plus--onboard telephones. Targeting the 12m or so South African commuters travelling by minibus taxi every day. Taxifone enables passengers to make cashless calls en route. Called Shesha ('hurry'), the system works on a prepaid card and some 12,000 units will be installed in taxis nationwide over the next three years.
