Review Of The Charities Act 2006 - Summer 2012


Lord Hodgson's Review of the Charities Act 2006 is to be laid before Parliament before this year's summer recess in mid-July. The terms of reference for the review were wide but included: a review of the provisions relating to the definition of charity and changes made in the 2006 Act on public benefit; the disposal of charity land; functions and powers of the Charity Commission; charity mergers; trustees duties; powers; liabilities and rights; charity reporting and accounting; and fundraising.

Responses have been submitted by a wide range of bodies including the ISC (on the definition of charity and public benefit), the Charity Commission, individual charities (and umbrella organisations) and the Charity Law Association.
