In the recent renewal of its mutual recognition agreement (MRA) with CMA Canada, CIMA failed to rectify all of the flaws contained in the original MRA, which it signed five years ago.

At that time I pointed out the additional requirements that CIMA members had to fulfil in order to become a CMA (see "Allied powers", Letters, February 2004). Although the current MRA appears to have removed the Canadian tax and law requirements, the remaining two requirements would still prevent most CIMA members from becoming CMAs.

This time around, we have potentially 40,000 CMAs who could boost our top-line growth. Let's do a better job of...
