The clamour is rising from African countries for Britain to return historical treasures, much of it forcibly plundered and removed during the colonial era.

Focal point is a collection of nearly 1000 'Benin bronzes' (such as the one in the picture) seized in an 1897 British army raid on the city-state of Benin, a part of modern Nigeria. Now Nigerian MPs are demanding the repatriation of 200 brass plaques held at the British Museum in London.

The rest of the collection is scattered in various museums throughout Britain. But...
