Nigeria's federal government has confirmed that it is to hand the management of four of the country's international airports to private companies. A senior government spokesman confirmed that under the new plan the private sector would be wholly responsible for the management of the airports, but security responsibilities will remain in government hands. President Yar'Adua is said to have given his conditional approval to this initiative but insisted in absolute probity, requiring due process to be strictly followed in arriving at the terms of any agreement between the authorities and the private sector.
