Mozambique's massive aluminium project has been voted 2001 Project of the Year by the International Project Management Institute. The $1.2bn Mozal plant - a 50-50 joint venture between Murray & Roberts' and SNC-Lavalin of Canada - was completed six months ahead of schedule and $100m under budget.
