The fourth annual CIMA Canada Mayor's Trophy cricket tournament took place on June 28 in Toronto. Despite torrential rain, the event attracted some of Canada's leading business people.

Since it started in 2005 the event has grown steadily more popular, attracting widespread media attention and corporate sponsorship. Aubrey Joachim, CIMA's deputy president, attended along with David Miller, the mayor of Toronto, and William Blair, the city's police chief.

This year's event supported the Cricket Across The Pond scholarship programme, which aims to empower young people through the sport. CIMA raised funds in partnership with the Royal Bank of Canada and other employers.

"While the social aspect is commendable and is a great opportunity for the institute to show its social responsiveness, our primary goal is to increase CIMA's brand recognition in Canada," said Amal Ratnayake, a member of the organising committee.
