I am surprised that you quoted Sir John Bourn's comment on fraud (First in, March). Perhaps you should have been aware that he was subjected to parliamentary pressure over his use of public funds, which resulted in his resignation in January. He was cleared of wrongdoing because he acted "in accordance with the existing rules". Were these rules perhaps established by members of the Commons committee of public accounts or the National Audit Office to mutual benefit?
