It's been a good 12 months for Benedict Peters, founder of Nigeria's biggest indigenous oil and gas company, Aiteo. Late last year, Peters won a landmark court judgment exonerating him of any criminal conduct and finding that all his assets had been acquired legally. Having started in the oil and gas business in 1999, mainly in the downstream sector, in 2015 his company won the bid for the largest onshore oil block in sub-Saharan Africa, a divestment by Shell.
