Your article, 'Youth unemployment: A bomb ready to explode' (NA, May 2018) is very well written. Youth unemployment is today a global problem, not a problem exclusive to Africa.
How can Africa tackle this issue? It must first take into consideration the progress in its governance. Most parts of the continent are today still witnessing a surge in conflicts, including various internal ones. No country of the world can achieve sustainable economic opportunities without guaranteeing safety.
Africa needs to solve all internal disputes. It is high time it created an environment of stability and safety for its citizens, removed from violence and insurgencies. Without adequate implementation of the rule of law, investors, local or foreign, will shy away and not risk losing huge sums of money.
Another measure to tackle youth unemployment would be improving human development. Education, which is the basic right of all citizens in Africa and the rest of the globe, is the first fundamental step to eradicating poverty and illiteracy.
