Crisis, a charity for homeless people, is urging companies to forego their annual Christmas cards and send a virtual choir instead. Firms that donate their Christmas card budgets will have a personalised, singing e-card featuring a video of homeless choristers, sent to all their clients, as well as a listing on adverts in the FT and on www.ft.com.

Depending on their budgets, companies can choose from a trio singing Jingle Bells (3,000 [pounds sterling]); a quintet singing We Wish You a Merry Christmas (15,000 [pounds sterling]); or a full choir of 15 people singing The 12 Days of Christmas (25,000 [pounds sterling]).
