No matter whether you live in London or Johannesburg, Sydney or Colombo, you can't do better than study with CIMA if you want to help your business grow, according to independent research by the University of Bath's School of Management. Although members and students should already be well aware of the value of their qualification, the study, which compares the syllabuses of leading accountancy qualifications worldwide, highlights the similarities and differences between what CIMA provides and what the competition offers. This could prove invaluable in explaining the benefits of CIMA to employers and those outside the profession.

"This research is a tool for employers and members alike," explains Ray Perry, director of brand at CIMA. "For the first time it's possible for organisations to be clear about the skills they require and the qualification most likely to meet their needs. While we have received feedback that employers welcome this as an aid to organising their training and recruitment strategy, we also expect it to help members and students articulate the specific skills that they can offer."

This message needs to be heard by companies, recruiters and potential students around the globe, so the institute is launching its first truly international corporate advertising campaign this month. The campaign will involve local content and will target media in key markets worldwide. Based on the "in business together" slogan, it will feature members and students working in some of the world's most influential companies. Each will explain the ways in which their qualification has given them the skills to add value to their organisation. They will describe how they have used these, together with practical experience, to benefit their companies and develop their careers. The adverts will link to case studies that tell the story in more detail.

CIMA is currently working with high-profile companies on the first adverts in the series: Land Rover in the UK, Advanced Micro Devices in Malaysia and Tesco internationally, including China. These will highlight how the institute works in partnership with successful organisations to train and support key employees throughout their careers. The range of employers featured across the whole series will demonstrate how CIMA members can add value in diverse industries and businesses of all sizes.

The Bath research findings are summarised in a publication called The CIMA difference...
