Recruitment of UK accountancy jobs stepped up in the first quarter of 2011, according to the latest accountancy market update from recruitment specialists Robert Walters.

Corporate finance specialists, business analysts and second-time movers with two to three years' post-qualified experience were particularly sought after as companies look to fill gaps created by previous streamlining. Internal auditors were also recruited in increasing numbers as businesses looked to recruit professionals capable of driving growth.

"Commercial businesses are generally also more positive in the types of people they hire," said Toby Fowlston, director of commercial and professional services at Robert Walters. "We are now seeing more demand for finance professionals who can drive the company forward, generate revenue and have a positive impact on the business.
