CIMA is exploring the possibility of including the operating and financial review (OFR) as part of the Combined Code requirements. The option is one of a number that the institute is considering after the chancellor's decision in November to scrap mandatory OFRs for UK listed companies.

A legal challenge to this U-turn, threatened last month by Friends of the Earth, forced Gordon Brown to publish an extended consultation paper on the future of corporate environmental reporting. The consultation, which ends on March 24, seeks views on whether or not OFR provisions should be included in the draft company law reform bill that's currently before Parliament.
