Had it not been for strikes, accidents and fuel shortages, Zambia would have exceeded its 2005 finished copper production target of 550,000t. Mining minister Kalombo Mwansa reports, however, that output amounted to some 500,000t with a target of 600,000t this year and 720,000t in 2007.
