Burundi is in the process of changing its investment code to make investing in the country an easier proposition. "We are ready to facilitate any foreign investors who come here," Gabriel Ntisezerana, second vice-president in charge of the economy, has announced: "Our country is ripe for business, investors and tourism now that the insecurity is over. There are many opportunities for investment."

He further pledged that the government would announce changes to the investment code and highlighted the financial sector as being particularly ripe for investment. A former central bank governor and government economist, he is passionate about attracting more investment.
