Last year the world experienced the highest growth in international tourism since 2010, with Africa making the highest gains compared to any other region.
International tourist arrivals in the continent are estimated to have increased by 8.6%, compared with a global average of 7%. That translated to almost 63m visitors, who brought in $37bn to the continent in 2017.
North Africa, where tourism is making a comeback after various terrorist attacks, saw the majority of the increases. This is especially true of Egypt and Tunisia, with Tunisia's tourism sector growing by 23%.
