The promotion and protection of human rights is one of the basic objectives of the United Nations. Peacekeeping Operations is an important activity of the UN in modern time. Human rights issues in peacekeeping operations are a perceptive phenomenon. This book aimed to answer: i) The UN mechanisms for promotion and protection of human rights in Peacekeeping Operations; ii) The actual position of human rights in Peacekeeping Operations; and iii) How should International Human Rights Law be applied in the Peacekeeping Operations? The author found that, unfortunately the UN has been suffering from the crisis of human rights violations committed by peacekeepers. They have been blamed of committing different crimes in different operations. It indicated that the role of the UN Secretary General and Security Council has lagged behind and the author grounded some policy implications also.
